Janome Sewing Machines Have a Secret

A Basic Janome Sewing Machine, With a Good Stitch Too     It’s very simple, and it’s just what you want. But a surprising number of sewing machines we have sold over the years are made by famous companies that seem to not know the secret.

I’ll tell you the secret, and you may not believe it. Please understand that Janome is the largest manufacturer of home sewing machines in the world, and they got that way by following the secret.

So here it is: Janome makes sure, absolutely sure, that all their Sewing Machines have a great stitch before they add any other features. Who’d have thought?

Q. When is a Sewing Machine not a Sewing Machine?
A. When it looks like a Sewing Machine, but it breaks thread, jams, has a poor stitch, or sound loud when it’s still new. More new words and sounds have been invented by the intense frustration caused by these machines….

Over and over I’ve seen this to be true. We used to sell Singer. Grandma had one. I’ll bet she wouldn’t have spent her hard earned money on that name today though. I wonder if Mr. Singer would even want his name on them now. So many people have been so disappointed.

We also had Viking. I loved Viking machines. As a repairman I recognized the craftsmanship in those smooth running 6000 and earlier series. I bought one as soon as I could. I don’t know what happened on Viking’s end, but we started getting returns on later model machines, (I hate when that happens- no one wins with returns.) There were way too many returns. I hear Singer and Viking are both owned by the same holding company now. No surprise.

On the other side of the store, a lesser known brand by the name of “New Home” was busy actually listening to customers and giving them more than they asked for. Janome, the parent company of New Home, decided to call the brand Janome and they continued to grow, bringing us the first real embroidery machines and rocketing to the number one place.

So if you want a good Sewing Machine, get a Janome. I can’t sell you one on line, although I do have them in the store. Buying a Sewing Machine on line is like buying clothes on line; you can’t tell how it fits until you get it. The difference is you can’t afford a lot of shipping “trying on” Sewing Machines, so your likely to stop short of the “right” fit.
